B. DEMONSTRATION EXPERIMENTS (Spotting)

13. Study of structure or parts of the human eye, ear and brain with the help of models or charts.

1. Human eye :
Description can be added from the text book or only specific regions can be given in short. From an exam point of view for one mark any one part with a function can be asked.

3. Functional areas of cerebrum :
Description can be added from the text book or only specific regions can be given in short. From an exam point of view for one mark any one part with a function can be asked.

Comments on functions of different parts :-

Eye : The eye functions as a complex sensory organ, Capturing and processing visual information through the coordinate efforts of its various components to provide the sense of sight.

Ear : The ear serves as a multifaceted sensory organ, responsible for detecting and processing sound waves, maintaining balance, and contributing to spatial awareness.

Brain : The brain is an important organ that controls thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger etc.

Questions


1. Enlist different sense organs in humans and mention their functions:
Ans :- i) Eyes: Detect light and enable vision.
ii) Ears: Detects sound and maintains balance.
iii) Nose: Detects odors and senses smell.
iv) Tongue: Detects taste through taste buds.
v) Skin: Sense touch, temperature, and pain.

2. Give reason - Little damage to medulla oblongata causes sudden death.
Ans :- The medulla oblongata controls vital functions like heartbeat, breathing, and blood pressure. Any damage disrupts these processes, leading to death.

3. What are the functions of the cerebrum?
Ans :- The cerebrum controls voluntary actions, sensory perception, reasoning, memory, and emotions. It also governs decision-making and problem-solving.

4. Enlist the components of ear ossicles:
Ans :- i) Malleus
ii) Incus
iii) Stapes

5. Give functions of each of the following:
a. Retina: Converts light into electrical signals for visual processing.
b. Pupil: Regulates the amount of light entering the eye.
c. Vitreous chamber: Maintains eye shape and allows light to pass to the retina.
d. Eustachian tube: Balances air pressure on both sides of the eardrum.
